Langs Beach on the Northland's east coast was my first stop on the way to Paihia. The tan coarse sand was typical for almost all the Northland's beaches.

Cable Bay Beach - my favorite beach by far on Doubtless Bay. Wonderful tan and gold coarse sand accented with lots of interesting black lava formations, beautiful clouds, sunsets and sunrises, all to myself! Wow!!!

I visited this beach on my way to the North Island's northern most point. Only in this area of the Northlands do the beaches have white silica sands.
