2019 Trips

Mono Lake in Winter - January 19, 2019

This was a short trip to the lake for winter photography and hopefully a blood moon rising over the lake. Alas, clouds precluded the later. The lake however as absolutely stunning on our first day's visit as it was as smooth as glass.

Joshua Tree National Park - April 3, 2019

This was a one day visit to the park looking for iconic views of the Joshua Trees and wild flower displays. It was a beautiful spring day and we could wild flowers still in abundance in the southern regions of the park.

Table Mountain Wild Flowers - April 10, 2019

This is the nicest I've ever seen here at Table Mountain. I've been coming here for over 10 years now and this year is just spectacular!

Yosemite in Spring - April 29 - May 1, 2019

This was a quick trip to visit Yosemite during prime spring time conditions. As luck would have it we timed the visit perfectly in order to shoot dogwood trees blooming while in prime condition. As always the water flow in Yosemite during the spring is spectacular due to the melting snow runoff.

Sitka AK Kayaking and Hiking - June 12-19, 2019

This trip was a little different than my normal. Wanda and I joined a kayaking club based in San Diego for a week of kayaking, hiking and exploring. I volunteered to be the group's photographer taking both videos and stills. Unfortunately my hopes for taking aerial videos were dashed because all of the kayaking activity was within Sitka Airport's authorization zone. Still we had a great time and got some interesting shots.

Lake Tahoe Iphoneography - September 16-20

I decided  on this hiking trip to Lake Tahoe to leave the "big boy" camera equipment at home, using just my iPhone. After spending time with the images in post production I must say I'm thrilled with the final results. And my back continues to thank me for not carrying all that heavy equipment while hiking and biking.

Eastern Sierra Fall Color - Sep 30-Oct 6, 2019

These shots were taken during my annual (well, most years anyway) trip to the eastern Sierra for fall color photography and hiking. As with most years you never know exactly what you're going to get. North Lake and S. Bishop creek were particularly nice in most locations but there were a  number of spots that had already gone to brown.
