Located near Page AZ, there is a large area of sandstone waves or ridges just above the rim of Water Hole Canyon. Very interesting. This was taken just as the sun was about to set.
The day before we arrived the high country west of Bishop received a good dose of snow. Happily, my fears that the color would be gone when we got there were for naught.
I found this to be a challenging composition because the color was mostly hidden behind bare-limbed aspen (which I love) mixed in with a few evergreens. The intent of my post-processing was to highlight the beauty of the bare trees with that amazing color in the background.
This was taken in Arches NP at the La Sal Mountains Viewpoint not long after rains passed through. The rock formation in the reflection doesn't have a name that I could find.
In the Patagonian areas we visited a form of beech tree known as lenga was abundant and in prime fall color. It was a particularly good year for color and our timing was perfect!
